GENESIS 5 THE GREAT FLOOD OF NOAH
1. Which are the two main ‘books of the generations’ in the Bible?
Ans: In the O.T, “The book of the generation of Adam” (Gen. 5:1) & in the N.T, “the book of generation of Jesus Christ” (Mt. 1:1)

2. Name all the men in the genealogy from Adam to Noah.
Ans: Adam (= Man), Seth (= Appointed), Enosh (= Mortal), Kenan 9=Sorrow), Mahalalel (= The blessed God), Jared (= Shall come down), Enoch (= Teaching), Methuselah (= When he is dead it shall be sent), Lamech (= Despairing),Noah (= Comfort and rest).
3. Through whose “seed” / genealogy Jesus was born?
Ans: Through the seed of Seth that Jesus was born (5:3–8, 1Chr. 1:1, Lk. 3:38).
4. By what name were the first man and woman called (v2)?
Ans: “Male and female created He them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam,” (Not the Adamses, but Adam – i.e. Eve is the other half of him).
5. Adam being made in the likeness of God (Gen. 5 : 1; 1 : 26) Explain.
Ans: Adam was made in the likeness of God in that he was created (he was not born) without sin and knew no evil. But later through him sin entered into the world:(Ref. Rom 5:12).
6. “Seth being made in the image of Adam” (5: 3)? Explain.
Ans: Seth was born of Adam, a sinner, a mortal man who was dying and wouldsee death because of sin.
7. How old did Adam live to be?
Ans: 930 years (Gen. 5:5).
8. What does "Noah" mean?
Ans: Relief; Comfort (5:28).
9. How Enoch was different from Adam’s other descendant? (Gen. 5:22-24)
Ans: Enoch “walked with God”, and “God took him”.
10. Enoch who walked with God and caught up. How he is a type of church?
Ans: Before the great flood God took him. The church will not go through the Great Tribulation.
11. Name the other person who walked with God before the flood (Gen 6:9).
Ans: “…Noah was a just man, perfect in his generations. Noah walked with God”.
12. Who lived the oldest man that ever lived?
Ans: Methuselah.
13. How long did Methuselah live?
Ans: Methuselah lived 969 years. (5: 25-27)
14. What the name Methuselah means?
Ans: (A) Man of dart, or man of the javelin (B) When he is dead, it shall come.
