  GENESIS 13                                                                         LOT AND HIS FAMILY

1.      Who was Lot?

        Ans:   Abraham’s nephew (Gen. 11:12, 31; 14:12) [Terah begot Abram, Nahor, and Haran. Lot was Haran’s son (Gen. 11:27)

2     .What did Abram do when he returned to the place he first called on the name of the Lord? (Gen. 13:4; 12:8)

       Ans:  There Abram worshiped/ ‘called on the name of the LORD’.

3.     What was the cause of dispute that broke out between Abram and his nephew Lot? (Gen.13:5 -7).

         Ans:  Both men had large herds of animals and their herdsmen were fighting over water and grazing rights.

4.     In Genesis 13:8 Abram is calling Lot his brother, how?

        Ans:   Abram and Lot were expressing both their close feelings and their                    blood kinship, but they were not actually brothers.

5      What was Abram's solution to the problem? (Gen.13:8-9).              

         Ans:  They should separate.


6.        What choice did Abram give Lot?  Gen. 13: 9.

           Ans:  Abram generously allowed Lot to have his choice first.

7.        After his departure from Abram, Where did Lot go?Gen.13:10,11

           Ans:  Lot moved to the fertile plains of the Jordan Valley, which were                        beautiful and green, but inhabited by wicked people too.

8        Where did Abram settle? 

             Ans:    Mamre in Hebron.

9.          What he built there?                                                                                                             

Ans:  There he pitched his tents and built an altar to the LORD. (Gen. 13:18).

10.        What area did Lot pitch his tent.  (Gen. 13:12)

             Ans:     Lot pitched his tent toward Sodom.


11.              How were the people of   Sodom? (Gen.13:13;2 Peter 7, 8)

              Ans:  The men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD                          exceeding.

12.                 After Lot had separated from Abram, what the Lord said to him? (Gen. 13:14 – 17)

             Ans:   The Lord reaffirmed His covenant with Abram (Gen. 12: 1 – 3).

13.          The number of Abraham’s seed compared to which three things?   


             Ans:  The dust of the ground (13:16), the stars of the heaven (15:5; 22:17)                     and the sand of the sea (Gen. 22:17).
