GENESIS 50    JACOB’S BURIAL  AND  JOSEPH’S DEATH

1.      How many days of embalming were fulfilled for Israel? (Gen. 50:3)

Ans:  Forty days.


  2.      The Egyptians mourned for Israel how many days. (Gen. 50:3)

        Ans: Seventy days.


 3.      Who all went with Joseph    to bury his father in the land of Canaan? (Gen.50:7)

       Ans: All the servants of Pharaoh, the elders of his house, and all the            elders of the Land of Egypt, as well as all the house of Joseph, his                 brothers, and his father's house.


 4.      Where did they stop and what they did there (10)?


       Ans:At  The “threshing floorof Atad”, there they mourned  and                     observed seven days of mourning for Jacob.


 5.      What name was given to this place?, Why?

        Ans: Abel-mizraim,  becauseb they looked like Egyptians, so the                 Canaanites named the place Abel-mizraim.


 6.      What does the name  Abel-mizraim mean?

        Ans: “The mourning of Egyptians” or “the funeral from Egypt”


 7.      Who where  inhabitants of the land? (Gen. 50:11)

        Ans: Canaanites.


 8.      Where was Jacob buried? (Gen.50:13)

        Ans: In the cave of the field of Machpelah, before Mamre, which                 Abraham boughtwith the field from Ephron the Hittite as property             for a burial place.


 9.      What were Joseph’s brothers worried  about after their father had died?         (Gen.50:15)

         Ans:  "Perhaps Joseph will hate us, and may actually repay us for all          the evil which we did to him.”


 10.  What did Joseph do when the spoke unto him? (Gen. 50:17)

        Ans:Joseph wept .


 11.  What  they said to Joseph (Gen. 50:18)

       Ans: "Behold, we are your servants."


  
12.  What  Joseph responded  unto his brothers? (Gen. 50:19-21)

        Ans: Joseph said to them, "Do not be afraid, for am I in the place of              God? …. He comforted them and spoke kindly to them


 13.  What does Joseph ask of his brethren before he dies concerning his                    bones? (Gen.50:24-25)

          Ans: Joseph said to his brethren, "I am dying; but God will surely                visit you, and bring you out of this land to the land of which He                  swore to Abraham, to Isaac,and to Jacob." Then Joseph took an oath            from the children of Israel, saying, "God will surely visit you, and              you shall carry up my bones from here."


 14.       How long did Joseph live? Gen. 50:22

           Ans: 110 year
