GENESIS 34 THE DINAH INCIDENT

[30 Then Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, "You have troubled me by making me obnoxious among the inhabitants of the land, among the Canaanites and the Perizzites; and since I am few in number, they will gather themselves together against me and kill me. I shall be destroyed, my household and I."]
13. How did they reply? (Gen 34:31)
Ans: they said, "Should he treat our sister like a harlot?"
14.
What
was later done to Simeon and Levi because of this (Gen.49:5-7)?
Ans: Jacob passed over Simeon and Levi for their primary blessings, and passed it to Judah instead.
NOTE:
In this chapter we do not see God’s name or His influence. God’s command was to
return to Bethel (28:21; 31:3, 13), whereas Jacob and his family settled in
Shechem. Intermingling means intermarriage which will lead to polluted “seed
line”. The reason of their failures was disobedience.
