GENESIS 19                                 DESTRUCTION OF SODOM AND GOMORRAH

1.Who arrived at Sodom in the evening? (Gen. 19:1)

Ans:  Two angels.

2.Why the angels came to Sodom?

Ans:  To warn about the destruction of the wicked people of Sodom.

3.Where   Lot was sitting   when the two angels came to Sodom? (Gen.19:1)

Ans: Lot was sitting   in the gate of Sodom.

4.Where did the angels who visited Sodom spend the night? (Gen. 19:2,3)

Ans:  In the house of Lot.

5. What did the men of Sodom want to do to the angels that visited Lot?(Gen.19:1-13)

Ans:  The men of Sodom, demanded Lot:  “Bring the two men out of the house to us that we may know them carnally.”(v.5)

6.What did Lot requested and what he offer the men of Sodom instead? (Gen. 19:7-8)

 Ans:  Lot said, “I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly. Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof”.

7.What affliction did the angels put on the men of Sodom who came to Lot’s house? (10-11)

 Ans:  The men put forth their hand, and pulled Lot into the house to them, and shut to the door and they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great: so that they wearied themselves to find the door.

8.How did Lot's son-in-laws view his warning of destruction of the city? (Gen.19:12-14)    Ans:  They thought he was joking (19:14)

9.Why did the angels have to take hold of Lot’s hand? (Gen. 19:16)

Ans:   “While Lot lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; ……: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city”

10.  After the angels had brought them out, what the angels commanded Lot? (Gen. 19:17)

Ans:  Hurry “Flee for your lives! Don't look back, and don't stop anywhere in the plain! Flee to the mountains or you will be swept away!"

11.  Name the town where Lot was permitted to flee?

Ans:  Zoar.

12.  What did the Lord rain upon Sodom and Gomorrah? (Gen. 19:24)

Ans:  Then the Lord rained upon Sodom and Gomorrah brimstone and fire from heaven.

13.  Name , who was not buried  after death? (Gen. 19:26)

Ans: Lot's wife.


14.  What   Lot’s wife done? (Gen. 19:26), what happened to her?

Ans:   She looked back from behind and she became a pillar of salt.

15.  What lesson to be learned from Lot’s wife?

Ans:  Focus on the things of God rather than the things of this world (Mt.6:19-21).

16.  Lot was afraid to live in Zoar, so where they dwelt? (Gen. 19:30, 31)

Ans:  Lot and his two daughters dwelt in a cave.

17.  What was the name of Lot’s oldest daughter's son? (Gen.19:37)

Ans:  Moab.

18.  What was the name of Lot's younger daughter's son? (Gen. 19:38)

Ans:  Ben-Ammi

19.  After escaping from Sodom, what Lot’s daughters done to him?

Ans:  They got their father drunk and "lay with him" (19:30-38).

20.   What children were born of this situation? (Gen. 19: 36-38)                                                    
Ans:  the first daughter bare a son, named Moab:                                                                              And the younger, she also bare a son, and called his name Benammi.

21.  What were the future consequences?

Ans:   Moab became father of the Moabites tribe, Benammi became father of the Ammonites, and later became enemies of Israelites

22.  How Lord Jesus warned the end generation?

Ans:  “As it was the same in the days of Lot. People were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building (Luke 17:28).  What lesson do we learn from the story of Abraham and Lot?
