GENESIS 20                                                   ABRAHAM LIES TO ABIMELECH


1.Mention the first occasion when Abraham’s deceit is highlighted? (Gen: 12: 10)


Ans:  In chapter 12, we read that Abraham went down to Egypt, and he tell Sarai as his sister.


2.Abimelech was the king of which place? (Gen. 20:1,2)


Ans:  Abimlech, the king of Gerar.


3.About Sarai, What lie Abraham told to the king Abimelech? (Gen. 20:1-18)


Ans:  Sarai as his sister.


4.Abraham Lies About Sarah and so what happened to her” (Gen. 20: 1-2)


Ans:  “… Abimelech king of Gerar took Sarah into his harem"


5.Why did God intervene to restore Sarai to Abram? (Gen 17:19).


Ans:  The "promised seed" through Sarai had to be protected


  6. How did God come to Abimelech and what God told him? (Gen. 20:3)

Ans: God came to Abimelek in a dream one night and said to him, "You are as good as dead because of the woman you have taken; she is a married woman."


7. What did God do to Pharaoh?

Ans:  God inflicted severe plagues on Pharaoh and his household.


8.What did God call Abraham when he spoke to king Abimelech in a dream? (Gen.20:7)


Ans: Abraham is a prophet.

Ans:  “Here is the first mention of ‘prayer’ in the Bible.


10.Then Abimelech called Abraham and said to him.  What he said? (Gen. 20:9)


Ans:  “What have you done to us? And how have I sinned against you that you have brought on me and my kingdom a great sin? You have done to me things  that ought not to be done.”

Ans:   He told Abimelech that Sarah was his father's daughter by a different wife, she became my wife.

Ans:  The Lord had closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech.


13.  How Abimelech, his wife and others were healed? (Gen. 20:17-18)


Ans:  “Abraham prayed unto God and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants; and they bear children. …." (Gen. 20:17-18)
