EXODUS 4    MIRACULOUS SIGNS                                                      

1.   Name  the first prophet with the power to perform miracles?                           

Ans: Moses.


2.   Why Israel was God's first-born son?  

Ans: Israel  was the  people/nation among all others on which God had chosen to place His special blessing. Israelites were the  first in rank and preeminence by virtue of God's sovereign choice to bless Abraham's seed.


3.   What did Moses fear that Israel would not do? (Exo.4:1)  
  Ans: He feared that the  Israelites will not believe or listen to him.


4.   Which were the  three miracles Moses performed  to convince the Israelites that      the God of their fathers had appeared to him?

The 1st, Change the  rod to a  snake ,  and back  (Exo.4: 2-5).   The 2nd, Change his hand to leprous  and  then healed  (Exo.4: 6-7), The 3rd , The water from the river turned into blood on the dry land (Exo. 4: 9).


5.    What was Moses 4th objection (of his disability)? (Exo. 4:10-12)   

Ans: I am slow of speech and tongue.  “heavy in mouth and heavy in tongue’.   i.e.  I am not a good speaker.


6.    Who  said to whom ? “… I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall say’ (v.12)                                                                                                                                         
Ans: The LORD said to Moses.


7.   (a) Even after all these, what did Moses ask of God? i.e. 5th  (Exo 4:13) 

Ans:  Moses wanted God to  send someone else instead of him.  
                  

8.  How did God react to this?

9.    Whom did God tell Moses He would send with him? (Exo.4;14)  

 Ans:  Aaron, his elder  brother.


10.  What would Moses be to Aaron?   (Exo.4;15)            

Ans: Moses would be God to Aaron.  i.e. Moses would speak to Aaron for the Lord and  Aaron  would speak to the people for Moses.


11.   How did Jethro react to Moses’ request to return to Egypt? (Exo.  4:18
                  
Ans: “Jethro said to Moses, “Go in peace’ 


 12. Whom all  did Moses  take with him  to Egypt? (Exo.4:20)                                             
 Ans: His wife (Zipporah) and  sons – (2:22), Gershom = ‘stranger’and  (18:4), Eliezer = ‘my God is help’).


13. Why the rod in the hand of  Moses  was  “the rod of God”? (Exo. 4:20)

 Ans: the  rod in the hand of Moses became the instrument of God for doing miracles,so it was  identified   as “the rod of God’.


14.   God said Israel  “My son, My firstborn” Why? (Exo. 4:22) 

Ans: “My son, My firstborn”.  God’s first born, means, Israel  was the nation among all other on which God had chosen is blessings. As the first born deserves, God   declared  Abraham’s seed to be  first in rank, preeminence, by virtue of God's sovereign choice.  Who were His people, a treasured possession, a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation (Exo. 6;7; 19:4-6).


15.    Why did God want to kill Moses?  (Exo.  4:24-26) 

Ans:  God has commanded Abraham to circumcise each of their sons  on the eighth day of their lives, as a sign of their relationship with God (Gen. 17:9-14). But Moses   had not circumcised his own son and his disobedience in failing to circumcise his son incurred the Lord’s displeasure,   and this negligence    would have   "cut him off". This  also illustrates,  the seriousness  towards  His covenant (Heb. 10:26-31).


16.  At this critical time,  how did Zipporah save the life of Moses? (Exo.  4:25

Ans: At just the right time, she did  the right thing, and  did what God required. “Zipporah took a flint knife, cut off the foreskin of her son and touched it to Moses’ feet, and said, “Surely you are a bridegroom of blood to me.” So the LORD let him alone”.


17. After gathering the elders and the Israelites, what did Moses and Aaron do? (Exo.  4:30).
   
Ans: Aaron spoke all the words which the Lord had spoken to Moses. Then he did the signs in the sight of the people.

Ans: Because of the miracles the  leaders of  Israelites were convinced that Aaron and Moses were sent by God  and they  believed them.
