 1. What is the contents of the book of Exodus?

Ans: The great event of deliverance of the Israelites from the land  of Egypt by God  through Moses,   to the Promised Land. 

What is the central meaning of Exodus?

Ans: The central meaning of exodus is deliverance or salvation.

2. When is the period of the historic event of Exodus of the Israelites from Egypt?

Ans: The period of the events have been variously dated by scholars between about 1580 and 1200 B.C.

3. What does it mean, when we read of  "the law of Moses"? (Lk. 2:22; 1 Cor.9:9)

Ans:  Moses himself had not promulgate laws, he only reported  what God revealed to him. So when we read of "the law of Moses" (Lk. 2:22), the meaning is not "the law given by Moses", but the low given by God, through Moses.


4. Why Moses is different from all other prophets? (Deut. 34:10; Num. 12:6-8))

Ans: Deuteronomy 34:10 says that, "there has not risen a prophet since in Israel like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face" (RSV).


5. How Moses is exceptionally praised?   (Ref. Num. 12:3).

Ans:  "Moses was very humble - more humble than any other person on earth" 

6. How  the burial of Moses is exceptional? (Deut. 34:6)

Ans: The Lord buried him (Moses) in the valley in the land of Moab.... and He buried him ... but no one knows his grave to this day.

Ans: Apparently a pair of stones on which the mother is seated for childbirth.

Ans: “Shiphrah and Puah.

Ans:Shiphrah” means “beauty” and “Puah” means “splendid”.

Ans:  The Hebrew boys are to be  killed at their  birth.



 9.Why  the midwives  have  not obey the king? What did they do? (Ex 1:17)


Ans: The midwives feared God, they did not do as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the male children of Hebrews alive.



 10.   What did the midwives tell Pharaoh? (Exo. 1:19)


Ans: The midwives answered Pharaoh, "Hebrew women are not like Egyptian women; they are vigorous and give birth before the midwives arrive."



 11.  Was Pharaoh’s course of action successful? (v.10, 20)


Ans: No, his efforts have had the exact opposite effect than intended.  i.e.  “the people multiplied and became very mighty”. (v.20)



 12.    How did God honored and  reward the midwives? (Exo.  1:20-21)


Ans: God honored the midwives because they feared God more than they feared Pharaoh. God  gave them families of their own and they multiplied!



  13. What was Pharaoh’s next order concerning every son born to the Israelites?  (Exo. 1:22)


AnsEvery son that is born ye shall cast into the river, and every daughter ye shall save alive’.
